City Sightseeing Oxford are looking to expand their tours even further and require three Spanish speaking tour guides to show Spanish guests around Oxford on a variety of walking tours.  

Job description
Location: Visitor Information Point, 44-45 High Street, Oxford, Oxfordshire, OX1 4AP 
Rate: £15.02/hr on weekdays and £15.35/hr on weekends  

The role will involve speaking in front of large groups, educating them about Oxford, answering questions, and ensuring visitors have an excellent experience.  

This role will be a casual contract, meaning you will have flexibility in working hours on a monthly basis.  

Who you are
  • Fluent in Spanish  
  • Drive to make every visitor’s experience the best it can be  
  • Ideally have experience interacting with customers 
  • Friendly, outgoing, and trustworthy 
  • Open to meeting people from all walks of life 
  • Comfortable presenting in front of large groups and answering questions 
  • Ideally have knowledge of Oxford, including the colleges and historical sites 

Info & benefits
The hourly rate is £12.00/hr Monday to Friday and £12.50/hr at weekends – paid even if the tour doesn’t run. This role will be a casual contract, meaning you will have flexibility in working hours on a monthly basis.  

You will also receive free bus travel on bus services operated by the Go-Ahead Group outside of London (exclusions apply), and other selected operators.

Job title: Retail and Tourism Assistant
Hours: Part time, mainly weekends with opportunity of overtime.
Location: Primarily at our Travel Shops in Gloucester Green and Queens Lane, ticket selling at various locations in Oxford as required. Work at Head Office at Cowley House, Watlington Rd, Oxford may also be required. 
Reporting to: Retail & Tourism Supervisor and Retail & Tourism Manager


To effectively handle customer and tourist enquiries, concerns and complaints by providing exceptional customer service at all times. To sell and promote a variety of products including Smartcards, Coach/Bus Tickets and City Sightseeing Tour Tickets, as well as help ensure the smooth operation of bus and walking tours, in addition to providing tourist advice to visitors of Oxford. Please note this vacancy will be based across 2 specific locations both offering slightly different experiences for our customers. You will be required to work at both locations.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • To consistently deliver an exceptional customer-focused experience by addressing customer inquiries, concerns, and complaints in person, via email, and over the phone. Strong English proficiency is required.
  • To work as a team with other key members of the Oxford Bus Company team, including Controllers at Gloucester Green, Retail Assistants, Operational Managers, Customer Services Department, City Sightseeing Ticket Sellers, Tour Guides, Drivers.
  • To promote and sell Smartcards, Coach/Bus Tickets and the OBC App using a variety of systems.
  • Work independently when required, ensuring completion of designated tasks and using initiative to stay up to date with the ever-changing developments across Oxford Bus Company Group.
  • To promote, sell and upsell our City Sightseeing Tours, products and combo packages.
  • To be knowledgeable about the city, attractions and colleges to help tourists, as well as local buses and their bus routes for those interested in local travel.
  • To assist with the daily running of the Travel Shop and Visitor Information Point. This includes general cleanliness of the areas and to replenish leaflets and merchandise when necessary.
  • At all times be an ambassador of Oxford Bus Company, City Sightseeing Oxford, Go-Ahead, and bus use in general
  • Operate in line with the Company vision and values and encourage others to do the same
  • Undertake any other duties and responsibilities of a similar nature or level of responsibility which may be allocated from time to time by the Retail and Tourism Manager or Supervisors.

Please note as we meet many wonderful International Visitors, having a second language would be advantageous but not essential to being successful in this role.
